The AI-Capacity Loop: Scaling the Network through Distributed MIMO
ABSTRACT:
Unprecedented demand, driven by the surge of AI-native applications, requires a fundamental shift in how we scale and distribute our wireless network. This session explores how Distributed MIMO (dMIMO), orchestrated by AI within an Open RAN framework, provides breakthrough spectral efficiency while maintaining efficiency and scalability. The discussion will focus on the operational reality of deploying dMIMO and identifying where AI-driven orchestration provides a decisive advantage. Featuring perspectives from RAN and AI experts, regulatory bodies, and MNOs, the discussion tracks the transition of this technology from development to commercialization. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how dMIMO compares to traditional Massive MIMO, the technical milestones required for deployment, and how this architecture serves as the scalable foundation for the 6G era.
