Converging Satellite and Terrestrial Networks for Ubiquitous Connectivity
ABSTRACT:
The convergence of satellite and terrestrial connectivity is redefining how networks deliver seamless, always-on communications across urban, rural, and remote environments. As demand for resilient, global coverage grows, integrating non-terrestrial networks (NTN) with terrestrial 4G and 5G infrastructure enables operators to extend reach, enhance reliability, and unlock new service opportunities. This session examines how hybrid network architectures combine satellite systems across GEO, MEO, and LEO orbits with terrestrial RAN, core, and cloud platforms to support use cases ranging from rural broadband and emergency response to IoT, mobility, and enterprise services. Attendees will gain insights into the role of 3GPP standards, open and cloud-native technologies, and advanced physical layer innovations in enabling interoperability, performance, and scalability—creating a unified connectivity fabric that bridges coverage gaps and supports the next phase of global digital inclusion.
